Messenger was born in 2004 through an aspiration to make a world class red wine.
Producing the first vintage in 2008 and releasing one every year up until 2014, the brand achieved international recognition for producing wine of distinction and sheer class. The vineyard, located in Stillwater, Auckland, features Malbec vines, which were sailed over from Bordeaux in 1863, before phylloxera ravaged all remaining vines, leaving it as the last of its kind.
In 2020, Messenger was revived under new ownership releasing 2019 Messenger Petite. This vintage, as with all our future Messenger vintages, was crafted by one of NZ’s most acclaimed and talented winemakers, John Hancock.
